Here's what Robert Marney (webmaster) has to say: "I got home last night from two weeks in spain. I was devastated when I opened my e-mail client to see that I had over 200 e-mails. 115 of them were complaints and abuse, ranging from the lack of updates by me, and the download problem at the jerseyland. I will not go into the minute details. I was in a remote part of spain, without my cell phone, without internet, and without a fixed line phone. I contacted england 3 times by pay-phone other than that I was alone. I got 28 e-mails complaining that I had not updated, the news, the reviews, the screenshots, the kits, and almost everything under the sun. As for the jerseyland, the days before I left SG (our host) switched servers thus we had to move everything. When I left on my trip the download server was not yet operational, so we hosted the files on SGs alternate servers. I was told the files would not be removed, I found out that the server was taken down 3 days into my trip even thoug I was promised at least two weeks. I can go into more details about who sent the e-mails who there is to blame, but I would like to say sorry to the fans. As of right now I am 90% sure soccered will not remian open. I am looking to give the site to an abitious webmaster who can run it, I will assist from time to time, But I feel let down by you all. Over the last year I have given so much of my time to you all and I get thanked by this. Those who e-mailed me you know who you are, thank your self for ending a site which gave something different to the community. Anyone that is interested in helping to run the site please e-mail me at bobmarley@soccered.com . I am sorry." So if you can help, be sure to mail Robert. Posted by Joe ![]() It's midweek, "halftime" of GameSpot UK's Football Week. Halftime usually provides entertainment, and for the curious FIFA fan, it does. Today they have posted a new interview with FIFA producer Kerry Whalen. Plus new FIFA 2002 screenshots, adding on to their already huge FIFA 2002 photo gallery. Here is a small clip of the interview: "GSUK: What does reinventing mean? Is it a case of new gameplay or improved gameplay? KW: Easy to pick up, challenging to master is the mantra we've been chanting. It's reinvented because it's been redesigned right down to the core gameplay mechanic. The result is a fun yet deeper gameplay experience." If you are a true and loyal FIFA fan you can't miss this. Otherwise, this interview doesn't say much in regards to the game. Posted by Matt ![]() Just a quick note to let you all know that our downloads server is back up and running meaning you can now download files from our Downloads Centre. Posted by Matt ![]() ![]() Over at the MRA site we are very proud to announce our latest partner agreement with the lads over at the excellent SoccerGameZ. SoccerGameZ is a Dutch news portal about SoccerGameZ and everything connected to them, news from magazines to websites.
SoccerGameZ has also launched their Download Switching Center (DSC). With this center they wish to be more interactive for the visitors as well as giving every download maker a good chance to publish their work. How does it work? EASY, you fill out a simple form, and your download is directly submitted to their database. One thing: people have to host their downloads themselves. At the add-form you simply fill in the url where the file is located. Take a look @ http://soccer.gamez.nl/download/ where you can find a Dutch and English version of the DSC. They also recently launched a top 25. You probably have seen them before. The tables with hits in and out... They have set it up and in both Dutch and English versions. Check it out and see which sites are hot. We are sure you will benefit in the future from this new partnership between the MRA site and SoccerGameZ. We are certainly very excited by it.Posted by Dave | Have Your Shout | ![]() Gazza has informed us due to some difficulties and access problems, FIFAustralasia is no more after only a week in existence.
