Week Two Questions
11. With the release this week of the Leagues and National Teams that will feature in FIFA 2001, many users are questioning why certain popular Leagues and Teams were left out of the game. Why are world-class teams such as Portugual and Leagues like the Mexican, Argentine, Australian and Turkish League just to name a few not included in FIFA 2001 ?

Unfortunately with some of the more popular League and National Teams we aren't allowed to put them in FIFA 2001 due to other companies having exclusive rights to them. This is something we are working on as we pride ourselves on the quality of clubs and leagues we have in our game. Also we have had to limit the amount of Leagues we have in the game this year due to our top priority being accurate data. with every league you have about 20 teams with about 22 players in each. To ensure all kits are correct, all teams names, player names, attributes etc are all accurate is no small job. If all goes according to plan we'll be looking to extend our Leagues with next years game.

12. Will there be a power shot bar incorporated into FIFA 2001?

Yes one of the new features for FIFA 2001 is a shot power bar.

13. Will there be a limit on transfers and kit and team adjustments as in the past?

Yes, unfortunately we will always have limits on transfers as well as team and player modifications since they need to be saved.

14. Will there be a way to make one of your players mark an opposing player as is done in real life rather than the bland zone defense?

To mark one of the opposing players you will need to take control of the nearest defending player and mark him that way. If that player gains possession of the ball and you feel he is a dangerous player, you can always use the attacking press to summon your teammates for extra help.

15. Has there been work on a better way to score on a direct or corner kick rather than having to set a play. For example it is always more fun when you do it yourself rather than program a play.

We have modified the set pieces slightly from FIFA 2001 to make them stylistically different and a bit more effective. If you choose to go with your own play, you have the ability to pass to any player involved in the play or to bend a clever shot around the wall if you desire.

16. Will the referees and linesmen be more realistic in FIFA 2001?

The addition of linesmen has been one of the most requested features, and we are delighted to have implemented it in FIFA 2001. These linesmen are not only a part of the sidelines, but also actively involved in reacting to the play.

17. Will there definitely be linesman and if so will their flags be raised when player are offside or when they spot a foul?

The linesmen will be present on both sides of the field, moving up and down the sidelines following the play and signaling offsides, throw-ins, corner kicks and goal kicks.

18. Will there be the option to chose the stadium where we want to play?

Yes, the user will have the ability to select from a host of accurately modeled real licensed stadiums. You can choose from Wembley, Stade de France, Westfalenstadion, Nou Camp and San Siro

19. The goal keepers seem to "fly" in FIFA 2000. Will they be more reaslistic in FIFA 2001?

Our goal this year was to make the goalies play in a more realistic fashion. This has included slowing down their reaction times and ensuring they wouldn't get to shots that are out of their reach. As a result, they give up more rebounds and do make themselves susceptible to the odd cracker from outside the 18 yard box creating additional excitement.

20. Will there be any new crowd chants in FIFA 2001?

One of our goals this year was to create a more immersive experience from an audio perspective. To this end, we have created new sfx and added a new sfx option called 'on the pitch' mix. This puts you right on the pitch where there is no commentary, only the calls from your teammates, the 80,000 chanting fans and the bone crunching sounds you hear when an attacker is violently tackled by a ruthless defender.
